The best Christmas events, markets and fairs taking place in Surrey this week

If you haven’t started feeling festive yet, there’s a whole realm of merry markets, events and fairs across the county this week to kickstart your Christmas spirit.

Whether you want to support local businesses while getting some Christmas shopping done, put on some skates and give ice skating a go, or dress up like Santa himself and run 5k, Surrey has a wide variety of holiday hijinks to choose from.

We’ve put together a list of just some of the festive fun taking place across the county this week, but there’ll be plenty more throughout the Christmas period.

Guildford Christmas Craft Market

Date: December 10 from 10am to 5pm

If you want your present that has the homemade touch without having to wrestle with glitter glue and pipe cleaners, then leave it to the professionals. Guildford High Street will have a variety of stalls filled with handcrafted goods made by local creators, so you can find a truly unique gift while supporting a small business.

Newlands Corner Christmas Pop-Up

Date: December 11 and 12 from 10am to 4pm

Fancy some Christmas shopping with a view? The Newlands Corner Christmas Pop-up will have a range of stalls filled with gifts from local artisan producers who are based in Surrey. You’ll also be able to pick up a locally sourced Christmas tree and wreath from Hans Christmas Anderson, all while overlooking the majestic Surrey Hills.

Denbies Santa Run

Date: December 12 from 10am

If you want to spend your Sunday frolicking through a vineyard dressed as Santa Claus – no judgement – then we’ve got the event for you. This Sunday, Denbies will be hosting their fourth Santa fun run through their iconic wine estate which covers two laps of a 2.5k route. The entry fee includes a medal for finishing, race photos, parking, mulled wine or a soft drink with a mince pie for after, and the all important Santa suit.

Alternative Christmas Fair at Talking Tree

If you’re thinking of ways you can have a white Christmas this year while still being green, this Alternative Christmas Fair is a great source for some sustainable inspiration. Glow 2021 at RHS Wisley

Running all throughout the festive period, this magical outdoor experience is not one to miss. The Royal Horticultural Society garden will be illuminated with twinkling lights and glowing with vibrant colours. Dotted along the way you’ll find a number of tempting food stalls, with merry morsels and festive hot drinks to warm you up on the route. With new displays and a longer route to explore, this year’s glow is sure to be one to remember.

Cinderella Pantomime at The Barn Theatre Club

Farnham Christmas Market

Ice skating at Hampton Court Palace
