Aldi has announced the list of places in Surrey where it is looking to build new stores.
The budget supermarket chain currently has branches across the county but is always on the lookout for sites to allow it to expand.
The company says its “sustained growth” means it is always looking to add to the property portfolio and have identified a list of criteria it is looking for from each potential site.
Aldi is asking any landowners to get in touch who meet the criteria, with a preference for freehold, town centre or edge of centre sites in areas that have a population of 15,000 of more.

Here is the further list of requirements that Aldi is looking for from potential sites:
- Minimum 1.5 acre site which could accommodate a 18-20,000 foot squared unit, with at least 100 dedicated parking spaces.
- Prominent main road frontage with good visibility and access.
- Minimum of 1.5km from an existing store, or a potential site for a relocation from an existing store.
Typical agent fees are 1.5% of the purchase price for freehold sites, or 10% of the annual rent for leasehold sites as a finder’s fee.
