Surrey weather: When snow is forecast to fall in different areas of the county

A flurry of snow is forecast to land on Surrey within the next 24 hours.

The county is among a list of areas named by the Met Office that could see some snowfall as temperatures are largely expected to remain below freezing.

A yellow weather warning for snow is currently in place for the western half of the county between 3am and 9pm, while a snow and ice warning has been issued for eastern areas of the county between 8am and 11.59pm on Sunday (January 24).

However, the time that snow is forecast differs depending upon the the area of the county you live, with just half a degree difference in temperature being all it takes to determine whether it is snow or rain that falls.

Below, SurreyLive has provided a full breakdown of the likelihood of snow for each area, as well as when it is likely to fall.

Dorking

Dorking essentially acts as a central point for Surrey.

The Met Office forecast for the area shows that there is a 60 per cent chance of snow between 10am and 11am on Sunday.

It is most likely to fall, though, between 11am and 2pm, where there is an 80 per cent likelihood.

There is a further 50 per cent chance between 2pm and 3pm, and between 5pm and 8pm later the same day.

Guildford

West of Dorking, snowfall is forecast at different times in the Guildford area, according to the Met Office.

There is a 60 per cent chance of snow between 9am and 10am and 60 per cent chance between 11am and 12pm.

Snow is most likely between 12pm and 1pm, when there is an 80 per cent chance, although snow could also fall between 1pm and 2pm and between 3pm and 7pm.

Farnham

To the far west of the county, a light flurry of snow is forecast for Farnham. Some rain is also expected in the morning, so this may make it difficult for the snow to settle.

Between 9am and 11am, there is a 60 per cent chance of snow, but this increases to an 80 per cent likelihood between 11am and 1pm.

There is a further 60 per cent chance from 1pm through to 7pm.

Oxted

Opposite to Farnham, over on the eastern border of Surrey, there is a small chance that Oxted could see some snowfall.

It could arrive as early as 11am, but the higher chance of snow, at 80 per cent, is between 1pm and 2pm.

There is a further 60 per cent chance between 2pm and 5pm with temperatures feeling like just -3°C.

Chertsey

Up to the north of Surrey, Chertsey and surrounding areas, any snow that does arrive is forecast to be later in the morning compared to the rest of the county.

There is a 60 per cent chance of snow between 11am and 4pm, with some snow mixed with rain predicted between 4pm and 8pm on Sunday.
