Surrey weather: Forecaster predicts first date it could snow in each part of the county

The clocks will soon be going back and there’s a definite chill in the air; Christmas and wintry weather are on the horizon.

Surrey has had a mixed bag when it comes to weather this year – let’s not dwell on those storms that battered the county at the start of 2020.

Then we had that uncharacteristically scorching patch of hot weather in September.

As the days get shorter and the nights longer, many of us will be dreaming of a white Christmas.

One forecaster has shared the dates they predict snowfall will hit various areas of the county – but we’ve a few weeks to go if they’re right.

Weather forecaster Accuweather is predicting the first snowflakes will fall in Surrey on Friday, December 18.

Dorking,Walton,Egham and Staines will be first to enjoy the wintry weather – if the forecast proves true.

For December 18, it predicts: “Very windy; a couple of flurries in the morning followed by a passing shower in the afternoon”.

A day later, residents in Camberley,Guildford, Farnham,Redhill and Woking are predicted to experience their first snow showers.

For December 19, it predicts: “Windy; a rain or snow shower in spots in the morning followed by a shower in spots in the afternoon.”

Forecasts can never be definitive and are often subject to change, particularly this far in advance.

The Met Office has not even attempted to predict the December weather yet, with their long term forecast only predicting the weather till November 17.
