We are a group of Event Management students at the University of Surrey who are organising a Battle of the Bands charity event in Guildford as part of the national Fast Forward 15 University Challenge.

They are competing against universities across the UK, while raising funds for Be More Dandelion (https://www.bemoredandelion.com/), a charity that supports women who have experienced abuse through music and dance therapy.

The event will take place on 7 April at The Boileroom and will feature several local bands, including Jegcoustics, Jenny’s House Band, Ruptured, The Colour Blind Monks, and Fools Gamble. The winning band will receive a full-day recording session at Empire Recording Studios.

The story has a strong local angle, combining student-led event management, live music, and community fundraising for an important cause. The team is also balancing this project alongside university education, adding an extra human-interest element.

We are currently looking for local support and encouraging more people from the community to come along and enjoy the event.
