Double figure spike in coronavirus cases over the weekend recorded in Surrey

A total of 21 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Surrey over the weekend – but no further Covid-19 deaths have been reported by hospitals in the county.

The latest daily figures, published on Monday afternoon (July 20), show the total now stands at 4,647 recorded cases since the start of the pandemic, up from 4,626 Friday.

Overall in the UK there have been 45,312 deaths in all settings of people who had tested positive for coronavirus, an increase of 11 in 24 hours.

Lab-confirmed cases have increased by 580 and now stand at a total of 295,372 since the start of the pandemic.

NHS trusts operating in and around Surrey have not recorded any additional deaths of patients who had tested positive for coronavirus.

The total of patient deaths in Surrey hospitals since the start of the pandemic remains at 1,195.
