Covid hotspots in Guildford, Woking and Redhill as 2023 begins

Despite the worst of the coronavirus pandemic now over, new figures show that covid cases in some parts of Surrey are spiking. Weekly data from the government’s covid dashboard has shown a number of neighbourhoods across the county have seen major increases in recent days.

While the general rate of infection remains low across Surrey some areas such as Surrey Heath and Woking have seen major increases in cases. While the vast majority are well protected with their booster vaccines, some vulnerable people are still at risk of the disease at a time where the county’s health systems are being stretched.

Below is the list of Surrey’s 11 local authorities and the three areas within that district which have the highest rates of infection. These include the number of new reported infections in the seven days leading up to December 17 (the latest available data) and infection rates per 100,000.
