Coronavirus infection rates continue to fall across Surrey with one area now below 400

The coronavirus infection rate in all 11 of Surrey’s districts and boroughs continues to head in the right direction, new data has revealed.

Figures remain high however the rate of cases and infection in the county continues to fall in all areas during the national lockdown.

Mole Valley has the lowest infection rate in Surrey – below 400 per 100,000 people according to the latest data in the seven days leading up to January 15, falling from 680.8 the previous week to 386.3.

Public Health England data shows Spelthorne continues to have the highest infection rate, recording 662 new cases in the seven days leading up to January 15. The area now has an infection rate of 663.0 per 100,00 people. In the previous week, the figure was 951.5.

For context, the highest infection rate in England is still Knowsley at 1134.8, and the lowest remains Torridge, at 68.8.

There were 647 new cases of Covid-19 reported across the county on Tuesday (January 19) by the Government. Cases continue to increase but the latest figures suggest that this will be at a slower rate when compared to the previous seven days.
