Coronavirus cases rise again in 7 areas of Surrey according to Public Health England figures

There have been a further 12 cases of coronavirus recorded in Surrey in the past 24 hours, according to figures released by Public Health England today (August 8).

Nationwide, 309,763 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 and the death toll stands at 46,566.

This represents an increase of 758 and 55 respectively over the same time period.

In Surrey, the number of recorded infections is now 4,771.

The rate is the amount of cases divided by 100,000 to account for different population sizes in each region.

  • Epsom and Ewell: 340 (no change) / Rate 421
  • Guildford: 566 (increase of two) / Rate 379.9
  • Mole Valley: 334 (increase of one) / Rate 382.8
  • Reigate and Banstead: 789 (increase of two) / Rate 530.4)
  • Runnymede: 341 (increase of one) / Rate 381.3
  • Spelthorne: 344 (increase of one) / Rate 344.5
  • Surrey Heath: 444 (no change) / Rate 497.2
  • Tandridge: 333 (increase of two) / Rate 377
  • Waverley: 472 (no change) / Rate 373
  • Woking: 371 (no change) / Rate 368

According to the latest figures from NHS England there have been no further Covid-19 patient deaths recorded by hospital trusts operating in and around Surrey. The figure remains at 1,197 since the start of the pandemic.

Please see below for a breakdown per hospital trust. It is worth noting that some trusts operate sites outside of Surrey, for example St Helier hospital is in Sutton.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 56,600 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that in the 24-hour period up to 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 758 lab-confirmed cases. Overall, a total of 309,763 cases have been confirmed.
