Every single neighbourhood in Surrey has been ranked according to its coronavirus infection rate.

There are 151 neighbourhoods in total across the 11 boroughs and districts in the county, with rates ranging from less than three to more than 500.

Each day, the Government releases coronavirus case and infection rate data for each part of England, which can be broken down into more specific postcodes.

The most localised areas are neighbourhoods slightly smaller than council wards with less than 15,000 residents, which are categorised as ‘Middle Layer Super Output Areas’ (MSOAs).

According to data released on Tuesday afternoon (February 9), which covers the seven days up to February 4, Banstead, in the borough of Reigate and Banstead, has the highest infection rate with 512.9, followed by Epsom Town, in the borough of Epsom and Ewell, with 502.2.

Some neighbourhoods, such as Thames Ditton, Frimley Green, Bagshot, and East Molesey, do not have a published rate as they recorded fewer than three cases in the seven-day period, and are therefore almost ‘Covid-free’.

An infection rate is calculated by looking at the number of coronavirus infections per 100,000 people in any given area across the country.
